Window Cleaning Tip - Vehicle Considerations

September 28th, 2007 Posted in Window Cleaning Tips

When starting a window cleaning business one of the important aspects you need to consider is your work vehicle. This is the vehicle that you will be using to transport yourself and your equipment from job to job.

Now if you only clean commercial storefronts and one story buildings, then you can most likely get by with any old car or truck. Providing that it runs =)

However if you plan on providing multiple types of window cleaning service to residential and commercial customers (like most window cleaners do) then you will need more out of your vehicle than just a trunk and an engine.

Below you will find some of the tings you need to consider when selecting a work vehicle.

  • Gas mileage – You will be doing a lot of driving going from job to job everyday, so you want an economical vehicle that won’t cost you a fortune in gas.
  • Passenger space – How many people will you need to carry from job to job?
  • Cargo capacity – Can all of your tools and equipment fit in your vehicle?
  • Lockable storage – Can you lock your equipment up in your vehicle to prevent theft?
  • Easy access – can you easily access your equipment quickly while on the job.
  • Ladder capacity – can you carry a variety of sized ladders including large extension ladders in your vehicle?
  • Maintenance – does your vehicle require a lot of matinee to operate and is it expensive to maintain?

These are just a few of the tings you need to consider when selecting a work vehicle for your business.

Some good vehicle selections are midsize trucks, midsize SUVs and cargo vans. Take some time and consider what you really need before buying a work vehicle.
