Window Cleaning Question: What kind of vehicle did you use to start your window cleaning business?
September 27th, 2007 Posted in Window Cleaning Q & AQuestion: Hi Tanner,
I know your company had lots of trucks and vans now, but back when you were just starting out, what kind of vehicle did you start with and why?
Answer: When I started my window cleaning business, my vehicle was incredibly impractical, but I didn’t know it at the time. However it became apparent very quickly.
I was driving a big lifted Ford F350 with huge tires. I added a ladder rack to carry my ladders and I was good to go, or so I thought. It took me about a week of working out of this truck to realize that this wasn’t going to work long term.
Why?
Because at 12 miles to the gallon it was costing me a fortune in gas driving all over town from job to job. Also my truck was so big, that I had to use a step ladder (everytime) to get my other ladders off and on the ladder rack. Until you’ve done this you have no idea how annoying and slow it is.
So I sold my truck and bought a Ford Ranger extended cab with a V6 , camper shell and a ladder rack. I chose the ranger because it got better gas mileage, could still carry a lot of equipment, and provided easy access to my ladders.
